# Random Pokémon Generator — Complete Documentation

## Overview
RandomPokemons.com (https://randompokemons.com) is a free, static, browser-based random Pokémon generator. It selects Pokémon at random from the complete National Pokédex of 1,025 species across Generations 1 to 9 (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Galar/Hisui, and Paldea), plus 184 Mega Evolution, Gigantamax and regional (Alolan, Galarian, Hisuian, Paldean) forms. It is built for Nuzlocke challenges, draft leagues, Pokémon Showdown warmups, randomizer runs, art prompts, trivia, and casual team building. No signup, no ads, no tracking beyond optional privacy-respecting analytics.

## How It Works
1. Visit https://randompokemons.com. A full team of 6 random Pokémon is generated automatically on page load.
2. Adjust the quick controls in the generator card:
   - Quantity: 1, 3, 6 (team), or 10 Pokémon.
   - Generation: All Generations, or a single generation from Gen 1 (Kanto) to Gen 9 (Paldea).
   - Type: All Types, or a single type from the 18 (Normal, Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Ground, Flying, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Ghost, Dragon, Dark, Steel, Fairy).
   - Legendaries: off by default (regular Pokémon only); on to include sub-legendaries, box legendaries, mythicals, Ultra Beasts and Paradox Pokémon.
   - Fully Evolved: restrict to final-stage and single-stage Pokémon.
3. Open Advanced filters for: evolution stage (any, not evolved, evolved once, evolved twice), special forms (Mega Evolutions, Gigantamax, regional forms), shiny mode (off, full odds 1/4096, boosted 1/64, always), and team options (no duplicate Pokémon, unique types only).
4. Press "Generate Random Pokémon" to roll. The page scrolls to the results.
5. Each result card shows official artwork on a type-tinted backdrop, name, Pokédex number, generation and region, type badges, abilities (hidden abilities marked), and a six-bar base-stat strip with the base stat total.
6. Click a card (or "Details") to open a detail view with height, weight, species genus, ability descriptions, animated base-stat bars, a clickable evolution line, and toggles to view the shiny coloration or the animated game sprite.
7. "Re-roll this one" re-rolls a single slot. "Share team" copies a link that reproduces the exact same team. "Copy results" copies the list as text.
8. Shiny Pokémon rolled at full or boosted odds are saved to a shiny collection that persists in your browser on that device.

## Randomness and Data
- Randomness is uniform and unbiased, produced by the browser's cryptographic random source (crypto.getRandomValues). Rolling a rare Pokémon on the first try is exactly as likely as on the thousandth.
- Pokédex data (names, types, abilities, base stats, evolution links, height, weight, genus) comes from PokéAPI and is cross-checked against the official Pokédex, then built into a single static JSON file served with the site. Data is refreshed after each official game release.
- Official artwork and 96px game sprites are self-hosted as WebP and PNG for speed and reliability.

## Rarity Tiers
- Regular: standard Pokémon (the default pool).
- Sub-Legendary: trios and duos such as the legendary birds and Swords of Justice.
- Legendary: restricted, box-art legendaries such as Mewtwo, Rayquaza, Zacian, Miraidon.
- Mythical: event-distributed Pokémon such as Mew, Celebi, Pecharunt.
- Ultra Beast: the Ultra Beasts of Alola.
- Paradox: the ancient and future Paradox Pokémon of Paldea.

## Technical Details
- Hand-written static HTML, one CSS file, and vanilla JavaScript. No frameworks, no build step to deploy, no server round-trips.
- Fully server-rendered: all headings, body copy, FAQ and JSON-LD are in the raw HTML, so the site is crawlable and citable without JavaScript.

Q: How many Pokémon can this generator pick from?
A: All 1,025 species in the National Pokédex, Generation 1 through 9. With Mega, Gigantamax and regional forms enabled the pool exceeds 1,200 possible results.

Q: Is the random Pokémon generator really random?
A: Yes. Every Pokémon matching your filters has an equal chance, using the browser's cryptographic random source, so results are never weighted or predictable.

Q: Can I generate a full random team of 6?
A: Yes. Six is the default. Keep no-duplicates on so all six differ, or enable unique types for a team where no type repeats.

Q: Can I get shiny Pokémon?
