Credits and Data Sources

Everything the random Pokémon generator shows you (names, types, stats, abilities, generations and artwork) traces back to a small set of sources. This page credits them properly.

PokéAPI

PokéAPI is the open-source Pokémon database that powers this site's Pokédex data: species, types, abilities, base stats, evolution chains and forms. It is a volunteer-run project used by thousands of fan tools, and this site would not exist without it. The data is built into a static file once per update, so this site never sends traffic to PokéAPI's servers on your behalf.

Official artwork

The Pokémon images shown in results are the official artwork for each species, self-hosted for speed and reliability. All artwork remains the property of its rights holders and is used here the way the wider fan community uses it: to identify the Pokémon in a free, non-commercial fan tool.

Trademarks

Pokémon and all Pokémon character names, images and related indicia are trademarks and copyrights of Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures Inc. RandomPokemons.com is an unofficial fan-made tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed or approved by Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures Inc. or The Pokémon Company.

Original work

The generator code, page text, logo and interface illustrations are original work by Daniel Mercer. The logo and mascot art are intentionally original designs, not Pokémon imagery.

Corrections

If any data on this site disagrees with the official Pokédex, the official Pokédex wins. Report discrepancies to hello@randompokemons.com and they will be fixed in the next data build, usually within days.
