About the Johto region
Johto is the second region in the series and the one that turned Pokémon from a hit into a franchise. It introduced 100 new Pokémon on top of the original 151, and it is based on the Kansai region of Japan, running from New Bark Town out to the Whirl Islands, Ecruteak City and the foot of Mt. Silver. Beat the Johto Elite Four and you can cross back into Kanto, making Gold, Silver and Crystal two regions in one cart.
Generation 2 quietly added half the stuff that makes modern Pokémon tick: the Dark and Steel types, breeding and eggs, held items, a real day and night cycle, and shiny Pokémon (that famous Red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage). This generator pulls only from the 100 Johto-introduced species, so every roll is pure Gen 2.

Johto starters and iconic Pokémon
The Johto starters are Chikorita (Grass), Cyndaquil (Fire) and Totodile (Water). Cyndaquil into Typhlosion is the smooth run thanks to strong Fire coverage, Totodile into Feraligatr hits like a truck, and Chikorita into Meganium is the underdog pick that struggles against Falkner and Bugsy but rewards patience.
Johto is stacked with all-time icons too: Pichu and the baby Pokémon, Espeon and Umbreon, Scizor, Steelix, Ampharos, the ghost-line Misdreavus, and pseudo-legendary Tyranitar. Roll six and you will almost certainly pull a Johto classic you remember from the anime.
Johto legendary Pokémon
Johto's legendaries are the roaming Legendary Beasts Raikou (Electric), Entei (Fire) and Suicune (Water), revived at the Burned Tower, plus the Tower Duo, Lugia (Psychic/Flying) at the Whirl Islands and Ho-Oh (Fire/Flying) at Bell Tower. Celebi, the Time Travel Pokémon (Psychic/Grass), is Johto's mythical.
By default the generator rolls regular Pokémon only. Flip on Legendaries to add the beasts, Lugia, Ho-Oh and Celebi, or open Advanced filters and set a shiny mode to chase a shiny Suicune.
How to use the Johto Pokémon generator
The pool is already locked to the 100 Johto Pokémon, so you can dive straight in:
- Pick a quantity. One for a single pick, or six for a full Johto team (the default).
- Filter if you want. Choose a single type, or turn on Legendaries and Fully Evolved. Advanced filters add evolution stage, shiny odds, special forms and a unique-types spread.
- Press Generate. Your Johto Pokémon appear with artwork, types, stats and abilities. Re-roll any single slot you want to swap.
- Share or save. "Share team" copies a link that reopens with the exact same team, and any shiny you roll saves to your collection.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many Pokémon are in the Johto region?
Johto introduced 100 new Pokémon in Generation 2, #152 Chikorita through #251 Celebi, in Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal. Together with the returning Kanto Pokémon the full Johto Pokédex is larger, but this generator rolls only the 100 Gen 2 species.
Who are the Johto starter Pokémon?
The three Johto starters are Chikorita (Grass), Cyndaquil (Fire) and Totodile (Water), handed out by Professor Elm in New Bark Town. They evolve into Meganium, Typhlosion and Feraligatr.
What are the Johto legendary Pokémon?
Johto's legendaries are the Legendary Beasts Raikou, Entei and Suicune, plus the Tower Duo Lugia and Ho-Oh. Celebi is Johto's mythical Pokémon. Turn on Legendaries in the generator to include all of them.
What is the strongest Johto Pokémon?
Lugia and Ho-Oh top the region with a base stat total of 680. The strongest non-legendary is Tyranitar at 600, Johto's pseudo-legendary, which is a Dark and Rock powerhouse once you grind Larvitar up.
Which Johto starter is the best?
Totodile into Feraligatr is the reliable pick with the strongest raw stats. Cyndaquil into Typhlosion clears the early Gyms fastest, and Chikorita into Meganium is the hardest run because Johto's opening Gyms counter Grass.
What games take place in the Johto region?
Johto is the setting of Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal (1999 to 2000) and the HeartGold and SoulSilver remakes (2009). All of them let you continue into Kanto after the Johto League.
Can I generate a full Johto team of 6?
Yes. Six is the default and no duplicates is on, so all six differ. Turn on unique types in Advanced filters for a balanced spread, then press Generate or re-roll a single slot.
How do I use the Johto Pokémon generator?
The pool is already locked to the 100 Johto Pokémon. Pick how many you want, optionally filter by type or turn on Legendaries and Fully Evolved, then press Generate. Open any result for full stats or use Share team to send it to a friend.
